Pope Leo XIV delivered the Angelus address Nov. 1, 2026, the feast of All Saints, in St. Peter’s Square, saying that holiness is offered to every person.

“Holiness is not a privilege reserved for a few, but a universal vocation that speaks to each of us where we live,” the Pope said.

All Saints Day honors both the saints formally recognized by the Church and those known to God without formal recognition. The day’s Gospel is from Matthew 5:1-12, while references connected with the feast include Revelation 7:9 and Luke 17:20-21. Pope Leo also referred to a passage numbered 12 in Pope Benedict XVI’s Spe Salvi.

Beatification and appeals

Pope Leo noted the beatification in Savannah, Georgia, of Pedro de Corpa and four companions. The five were religious of the Order of Friars Minor who were killed in odium fidei in 1597.

He also mentioned a humanitarian operation that assisted civilians in Oleshky. The Pope said cooperation between the parties could strengthen dialogue and lead to peace initiatives.

Youth and service

The Youth Olympic Games are taking place in Dakar, Senegal, with athletes ages 15 to 18 participating in educational and cultural gatherings. The Games are scheduled to conclude Nov. 13.

“Once again, we see a sign of hope coming from the world of sport!” Pope Leo said.

The Pope also welcomed Syro-Malabar faithful and their pastors, noting that Syro-Malabar communities are growing throughout Europe.

The Mission with the Poor, promoted by the Friars Minor, is scheduled to take place in Rome from Nov. 8 through Nov. 15. Pope Leo said he will celebrate Mass at Verano Cemetery on Nov. 2, 2026.
