Archbishop Ronald A. Hicks of New York visited Notre Dame Academy’s Grymes Hill campus on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, celebrating Mass with students, faculty, staff and guests.

The gathering included Sr. Joan Curtin, CND, Sister Maryann Calabrese and Sister Maria Cassano. Archbishop Hicks recognized the educational legacy of the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame.

The visit also reunited Archbishop Hicks with Sr. Regina Devito, CND, who taught him music in fifth grade. He recalled giving her a Barry Manilow record with his classmates.

Archbishop Hicks attended St. Jude the Apostle Parish School in South Holland, Illinois, which was founded by the Congregation de Notre Dame.

Kathryn Jaenicke said the visit had particular meaning because Archbishop Hicks attended a Catholic school led by the same religious community connected to Notre Dame Academy.

Notre Dame Academy said the Mass celebrated the school’s Catholic identity, founding heritage and relationships connecting generations through faith and education.
