American Catholic News aims to be accurate, fair, and faithful to the teaching of the Catholic Church.
Sourcing and attribution
We write from public sources and primary documents, and we attribute facts to their sources. When we present the teaching of the Church, we draw on magisterial documents — papal encyclicals, conciliar texts, and the Catechism — and name them where possible. We quote sparingly and attribute every quotation to its speaker.
Faith and fairness
We are a faithful Catholic publication. On contested questions we state the Church’s teaching clearly and represent other views accurately and charitably. We distinguish between settled doctrine and matters of prudential judgment on which Catholics may in good conscience disagree.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and openly. See our Corrections policy.
